About Us
The blend of ideas behind Blind Tiger Chandlery (BTC) started in late 2020. With so many uncertainties at that time, and from a desperate need for a creative outlet, our founding chandler started putting the pieces together that would eventually become BTC. Knowing that you, our customer, could buy your candles from literally hundreds of different merchants or creators, we wanted to bring multiple passions together to form, not just a place to buy candles, but an exclusive, bespoke experience based on a blend of modern and historical - specifically the prohibition era - 100 years ago this decade!
Our Vessels:
At BTC we believe in celebrating the beauty and history in what others may see as flaws or imperfections. They tell us stories of where that item has been and whose hands crafted it. Our signature candle vessels are made of soda-lime glass and are inspired by vintage milk glass. Each one includes an eco-friendly cork lid, specifically chosen to add to the vintage feel. Additionally, we offer carefully hand picked, antique vessels sourced from all over the U.S. as part of the Blind Tiger Bespoke Chandlery (BTBC). These gorgeous vessels are unique and are offered on a first come, first serve basis.
Our Candles:
We make all our candles with:
- our signature coconut wax blend
- highly-concentrated, clean-burning, phthalate-free fragrances
- lead-free & zinc-free cotton wicks
We back our candles with the BTC Guarantee. Just let us know within 30 days of receiving your order if anything is wrong and we will work with you to make it right.
Our Fragrances:
Most of our fragrances are inspired by the founding chandler’s memories, family, hometown, and other historical southern scents. We also offer more exclusive fragrances as part of the BTBC inspired by prohibition-era speakeasies. These scents may only appear briefly in our BTBC before they are locked away in our vault for an unknown amount of time (😱 snag ‘em while you can!). We even offer unscented as an option for anyone who loves candles but are sensitive to fragrance!
Terms We Use:
Chandlery - The warehouse or store of a chandler.
Chandler - A person who makes or sells candles
Blind Tiger - a secret club, historically used to skirt around anti-liquor laws; during prohibition you could pay ten cents to see the “blind tiger” and the liquor was “free.”
