FAQs

Below are some answers to frequently asked questions. If you don’t see what you’re looking for simply go to our Contact Us page and ask away.

Q:  Why "Blind Tiger?"

A:  During the prohibition-era one could go to a secret club (aka Speakeasy or Blind Tiger), pay to see a "Blind Tiger" and then drink "free" liquor. We love history and were particularly inspired by this exclusive experience of old speakeasies.

Q:  Do you offer wholesale, private label, co-branded fragrances, affiliate and/or fundraising programs?

A:  YES! We are still building out this program and are so excited about it. For now, if you’re interested in any of these options just reach out via our Contact Us page or email hello@blindtigerchandlery.com letting us know what you’re looking for and we’ll send you the details. If you’re looking to become a brand partner for fundraising or affiliate marketing you can visit our Partner With Us page under About Us to complete the online application.

Q:  What is the BTC Guarantee?

A:  While we stand by our candles, the BTC Guarantee is simply our way of making sure you’re happy with your purchase. If something is wrong or you just don’t love our products let us know within 30 days of receiving the order and we will make it right.

Q:  How do I prevent candle tunneling (melting the middle but not the sides)?

A:  With any wicked candle the first burn is the most important to ensure an even burn. The first time you light the candle make sure you let it burn around 2 hours, or until the entire surface is melted. This will prevent the tunneling effect in most cases.
With that said, our wax is specifically formulated to prevent these types of issues. Even if the wax isn’t evenly melted after the first couple burns it will catch up and level out over time. It’s just one more reason to love our candles!

Q:  Why are all of your candles colorless/white?

A:  From the beginning we wanted to create a better-for-you candle. With that mindset we simply decided not to add any dyes to our candles. Dyes aren’t necessarily bad for you, but we just thought why add one more thing that’s sole purpose is for looks. Some things are necessary to make a candle work. But not dyes. So we simply opted to keep it out. Plus, we think our wax and vessels are beautiful on their own and our fragrances can speak for themselves.

Q:  Why cotton wicks rather than wooden wicks?

A:  Don’t get us wrong, we love the crackle effect of a good wooden wick. However, when testing them we noticed that wooden wicks tend to emit more black smoke or soot than our cotton wicks. Additionally, we just weren’t crazy about the added burnt smell they emitted. We think our scents just make more sense without the added burnt scent. (See what we did there?) So, in conclusion we opted for our clean burning, metal-free, cotton wicks.
